Version 1.1 of the training policies and procedures (CPS-002) is effective on September 1st, 2023. You can find the updated policy in the Procedures section of the website, read further for some of the most notable changes.
In the grand scheme of things, these are incremental changes, but read ahead to find out more.
- PVs are no longer dedicated practical examination sessions
- Most progressions will have a "PV" or "complete" module at the end which will be repeated (along with any other modules as needed) until full competency is demonstrated by the student for gaining the certification
- There is no longer a concept of a "PV Recommendation" or a "PV Fail" - training is repeated until a "PV Pass" is achieved
- Existing PV rubrics will be used to evaluate competency in addition to the successful completion of all progression modules
- Oakland Tower SMT is now available for students working towards their S2 rating
- Accelerated training policy is replaced with clearer progression guidelines (already available on the website syllabus pages)
- Prohibited live network training during events
- Prohibited SMT from being allowed during tier 1 support events, without an exception from the Training Administrator
- Designated mentors are now able to complete the Minor CD/GC Evaluation - they will submit the result to the Training Administrator to process the rating upgrade
- Transferring and visiting controller policies are clarified and more explicit; return to roster policy is clarified
- Added policy statement on remedial training
- Updated progression to RPO and progression once becoming a mentor
